New Student Orientation
New Student Orientation
Welcome to the Marist Community! The Office of First Year Programs and Leadership Development provides traditional first-year students with a comprehensive, year-long orientation experience that begins with our New Student Orientation and continues with Welcome Week, First Fall, and a unique, ongoing Mentoring Program. Throughout your first year as a Red Fox and beyond, our office will be here to support you on your academic and personal transition to college.
On behalf of the entire staff of First Year Programs, we are really looking forward to showing you all of the fantastic opportunities we've created to help you get the most out of your first year at Marist. New Student Orientation has both in-person and virtual formats, each packed with exciting and interactive opportunities to learn about life as a Red Fox. From password information to Orientation Registration, deadlines and decisions, to a comprehensive Parent/Family Handbook, this page is packed with important information for entering students and their families. Please be sure to scroll through the entire page, so that nothing is missed. If you have any additional questions, please email us at FirstYearPrograms@Marist.edu.
Arrival Information for Orientation
Check-in opens at 9:00 am (please be sure to arrive before 10:00 am) in the Murray Student Center. Please use the South Entrance to the Marist campus and park in the Donnelly Hall parking lot. We have student Orientation Leaders and signage to point out the way to your parking area. The program concludes before 4:00 pm. Our OLs will be taking students to multiple locations throughout the day, so you are encouraged to bring an umbrella in the event of inclement weather, and a refillable water bottle. We suggest that you and your guests dress in casual, comfortable clothing, and please let your parents know that they may wish to bring a sweater as temperatures in the presentation rooms can vary. Additionally, guests may want to bring paper/pen if they would like to take notes during the Orientation presentations.
Marist Account Information
Important emails will be sent to your Marist email, so be sure to set up your account and check it often! We've listed some helpful resources below for your Marist Mail.
Please note: In order to register for in-person Orientation and complete some of the required forms, you will need to log in with your Marist username and password. If you need to reset your password, please click here to follow the necessary steps.
Required Surveys and First Year Seminar Selection
Entering students are asked to take required surveys to help us know more about your interests and preferences. In the coming weeks, open and close dates will be posted to this page along with the links to complete each required item. Students, please check this page and your Marist email regularly to be sure you don't miss the submission deadlines. We want to be sure you are “Red Fox Ready!”

Parent/Family Orientation
The first year of college, and the summer preceding it, are a time of celebration and change for you and your family. You are an important part of the Marist community, and the role you play in your student's successful transition to college cannot be underestimated! For these reasons, we hold a special Parent/Family Orientation each year that runs concurrently with our student program. Parent/Family Orientation will offer insights into student life, academic resources, campus policies, Parent Council activities, and more. Parent/Family Orientation will occur both in-person and virtually on the same dates as the student program.
